Alexander and Jordan
Year 1 Week 23
This has been a very weird week for me. That baby that I saw in the hospital with mom came home with us!! I have no idea why they would want to bring him home. All he does is lie there, eat and cry. I try to offer him my ball (see the video) and he just drops it. That keep saying he is my brother (whatever that is) but they will not let me take him or hold him. If he is mine how come I can't have him? I do have to admit that he is kind of cute. He is just boring. -- Alexander
Whoa, what a change the outside world is. Now I have to breathe, eat, stay warm, sleep in a crib and all kinds of other new things. I kept hearing how my parents would never have another baby if I was as fussy as my big brother Alexander was, so I am being very good. I do not want to be youngest, so I am on my best behavior. When I am awake I look around peacefully. I fall asleep easily. I would consider myself to be an easy baby. I did give my parents a little bit of a scare though. About a month ago the OB doctor noticed an irregular heart rate. I got a fetal echo (an ultrasound of my heart), and the cardiologist thought she saw a coarctation which is a narrowing of the main artery. My dad knew that it was hard to diagnosis prenatally, so he did not worry. My mom got very upset at the thought that I might need heart surgery when I was born. We weren't sure about the diagnosis, so they did not tell other people so as not to worry them. A second echo a week later showed that it probably was not a coarctation. The final echo the day after I was born showed that I have a completely normal heart. My parents were very happy. -- Jordan
