Alexander and Jordan
June 25 - July 31, 2007
Alexander: We had a wonderful two week with the
New York grandparents. We first stayed with Grandpa Sick and Memere in
Wayland. While we were there we got to stay in the Lake House. That
meant that we got to do lots of "fishing" which really meant that we got to put
our sticks in the water and wait for the fish to bite them. Strangely they
did not bite. You can't blame us for trying.
As you can tell from the pictures we also spent some time at
the Seneca Park Zoo. We got to see monkeys, elephants (after a long walk)
and Nemo (see the video).
Then we went to see Grandpa McQueen and Nana. I was
scared of the puppies when I first got there but with a little bit of time, I
could spend some more time with them. In fact I even gained the confidence
to brush one of the puppies.
On the last day of our time in Rochester we went to the
beach. Despite the stinky seaweed at the beach, Jordan and I did a good
job building a mountain with a lake in the middle of it. We didn't mind
the smell as much as our mom and dad did. In fact we could not drag
anybody else in with us and fought having to get out.
Jordan: You can see in the pictures below that we had a good time at the
baseball game, but what you can not see is that we got one of the foul balls.
We were talking with each other and did not realize it was coming towards us
until it landed on the floor right next to our seats. Memere picked it up
and gave it to me. My dad was jealous because with all of the ball games
that he has been to he never got a foul ball.
When we went to the Strong Museum of Play with Grandpa
McQueen and Nana, we did very good with the butterflies. The man told us
not to touch them or step on them, and we did a good job listening. We
also got the ride on the train. It was not the same as Thomas, but it was
still pretty cool.
All in all, we had a great time in New York. I am still
a little bit confused as to why we can not just get in the airplane anytime we
want and see our grandparents, but our parents say it is just not possible.
For now we will just have to be satisfied with the phone and the occasional
video conference call.
